Airdrie started this match with Steve Archibald bizzarly leaving Fernandez and Prest on the bench and opting for a strike force of Moreau and Ingram and the partnership never really looked like bearing any fruit.

Salva Capin was also substituted with just seven minutes on the clock with an injury being the only reason for it. Three minutes later his replacement, Scott Boyce, played a howler of a pass at the back and Morton's Stephen Aitken was eventually freed on the left hand side of the box and he fired the ball past Sanchez Broto to give the visitors the lead.

Airdrie never looked looked anything like the team that fought and won every ball at Brockville last week and Morton were certainly up for it.

The second half was much better for The Diamonds and they started to take the game to Morton. Stuart Ingram had the ball in the net with a nice header only for the far side linesman to rule him off-side when he was clearly on.

This didn't daunt the home side and they continued to press Morton. The introduction of Fernandez and Prest for Ingram and Moreau made a big difference and the Morton back four were struggling to cope with the strength and skill of Fernandez. Morton keeper, Andy Carlin denied Airdrie time and time again with a string of fine saves.

Airdrie eventualy got a deserved equalizer after a sustained spell of pressure when Morton keeper, Andy Carlin could only parry a shot from Prest, Eddie Forrest reacted quickest and fired the ball into the net to the delight of the home fans.
