The Jailender

Airdrie full deserved the points today, they were nothing special, but to be honest County weren't even fit to lace their boots.

Airdrie closed us down and didn't stop running all day.

Airdrie took the lead on 16 minutes a high ball into the area was headed down by Coyle (possible use of hands but wasn't given) Stuart Garden seems to be getting to it, but Hardie beat him and knocked the ball through his legs into the net, At first I thought the ref had disallowed the goal as it took him an age to signal but it was given. My view of the alledged hand ball was blocked by the keeper so can't comment on it too much.

County's equaliser was fortunate, in that McCunnie's cross into the box was to no-one as there was no support up with him, but somehow the Airdrie player (Docherty ??) hit the ball into his own net from about 10 yards out, when it seem the keeper was going to catch it.

County did have a brief bit of pressure in the second half, but you could always tell Airdrie could score again as they had several chances too. The winner came from a corner, headed near post by Lovering (i think) beating the keeper easily.

Not much else really happened in the game, no real blood and thunder, a couple of meaty challenges by both teams but no contraversial decisions. The only other point was we were lucky the game went ahead, the pitch still had a bit of snow on it, added to the piles all around the park and the orange ball you could easily have thought it was a norwegian match you were watching... only colder !!

As for Alex Smith, I think the pressure is really on him now. We have Raith at home on Tuesday night and this early in the season we have to get all three points, which I would say is easier said than done...
Smith was in the paper this moring saying we needed a win to close the gap at the top of the league, I think it is about time he aknoledged the fact we are very close tot he relegation zone, he always tries to put a bit of spin onto his comments to make him and the team look good.

One of the comments he did make the other week in the paper regarding Berti Vogts was that when you loose the fans it is time to go, well going by the comments from the County fans as we walked home over the bridge tonight he has lost the County fans.... but then I think that happened at the end of last season !!

I have never been so cold at a football game!
County were clueless and Airdrie deserved the 3 points.
With the exception of a few, McCulloch, Cowie and Higgins spring to mind, most of our players dont give a toss and disappear when the going gets tough. I blame Smith for that.

Carlos

I am not even bothered about that decision as County deserved absolutely nothing out of the game. It was an absolute travesty that County equalised, Airdrie really were streets ahead of County yesterday.

The next home games against Hamilton and Raith are vital, we really need to get six points. Anything from the Flakirk game would be a bonus, but since we outplay them and still lose I wouldnt hold out much hope.

I think Ill take in a Scottish Cup game next Saturday, Huntly Vs Peterhead should be a cracker.

The Jailender again

As I said earlier I dodn't see the ball hit Coyles hand but other near me said they did, thankfully TV evidence cleared it up. But as Carlos says at that point Airdrie deserved the goal, as they had already had a couple of chances to score but missed.

I've just had a look at the match stats, and County only had three efforts on goal to Airdrie's seven. County had 6 corners to Airdrie's 14.

I think that tells a lot about the game - and we were the home team !! ohmy.gif

Stagshead

We were rank rotten today.. Nothing else can be said about it.. although I bet Smith will have some excuse or have found one possitve in the game !!

I never made the game last week, but by all accounts that is the way we played in the first half against St. Johnstone last week, then it was the same way we played against Partick the week before the final, the same way we played against St. Mirren a couple of weeks before that...

The simple fact is we have a good squad of players there, but for some reason it is not working for us..

Is it the manager ? I don't know.. BUt how can McCunnie be so good for the Scotland Under 21 team on Tuesday, yet not able to re-produce it today.. I'm not having a go at McCunnie as he didn't have a particulary bad game today, but in my opinion it is down to the orders he gets from above..

As for Burke, why play him on the wide left ? He has done nothing for us in any game when he is played wide, the first few games he played for us he was right in the middle and he scored goals.. today he started on the left and was missing for much of the game, then he was moved to the center and things started to happen.. But had he been played there from the start it could have been so different.

It also seems that the players are frightened to do anything. Bone is always on their case, I chose to sit in the West Stand today (basically because it was so cold and I my feet were frozen) but every time a player had a shot and missed Bone was yelling at them.. et I dodn't hear him have one word of encouragement when they did something good.

I know I'll probably get shot down by certain members on here, but it is time for Smith and Bone to go befor eit is too late......
