Airdrie Vs Clyde Preview (12/11/04)
By Chris Mac November 12 2004
Airdrie are the only team in the Bells First Division to have taken full points from Clyde this season, down to 10 men on the park Mark Roberts sent off and still we managed to beat the league leaders 2 vs. 1, the question is where has that fighting spirit gone to over the past few weeks?

Preview For Saturday, 12th August 2004

It looks as though we will be continuing with the same team as last week, Mark McGeown  is rated as being 50/50 with a continuing back problem so Lee Hollis will continue between the sticks. It remains to be seen whether Mark Roberts, Jerome Varielle or Alan Gow have done enough in reserve games to deserve a run in the team.

For discussion, I said on another forum that Airdrie have had decent performances against the teams considered favourites for promotion this season, but so far against the teams we would hope to be beating on a regular basis we have in some instances been shocking. Do we have players who think they are bigger than the first division at the club?

 Opponents News

Clyde are going to have some enforced changes, Gary Arbuckle their young striker has been ruled out for a minimum of two weeks. But they have Craig Bryson once again fit for selection.

Anyone who read the Advertiser this week couldn't have missed the report from ex-Diamond Scott Wilson a player who very quickly won over the Airdrie fans. Since going to Clyde he has managed to hold down a position in the centre of the Clyde defence and seems to be enjoying his time at the club.

Billy Reid the Clyde manager knows that being top of the league is a precarious position and every team is looking to take points from them, but they have 28 points in the bag so far and although their financial situation is never less than one month away from disaster having those points is what counts in a league this tight.

We haven't seen Mr Thomson this season but in the last we saw him on three different occasions. In each of those games we won, his final game as the man in the middle saw us beating Dumbarton 2 Vs 1 and Paul Ronald was sent off.

Last Seasons Stats :-Games: 29 Yellow Cards: 81 Red Cards: 7

 Prediction

We have to win to at least show an improvement on last week, 2 Vs 1 to Airdrie
