Airdrie had Stuart Taylor starting in defence in place of Alan McManus, with Tony Smith and Lee Gardner on from the start. John Henry was the other absentee from the starting XI, after being dropped.

The first half was pretty dire even by Airdrie's recent standards but thankfully the second half livened up a bit. Mark Roberts got another sweet goal before a groin injury ended the game prematurely for him. Earlier on Paul Armstrong succumbed to injury too. With MacFarlane covering the right wing,Clyde took advantage 20mins from the end when a left wing cross was headed home for a deserved equaliser. When I say deserved I mean it too. Anyone who can outjump Kevin James deserves to score. The winner 2 minutes later from Jamie Mitchell was due entirely to a goalkeeping error from the normally reliable Phergie. The goalie came flapping for another searching cross and slapped the ball straight to a Clyde forward who easily played in Mitchell for a tap in. Phergie capped it all moments later when he flattened Michael Crawford outside his box, and he was lucky to have neither injured his opponent, nor have a straight red card!!

Most worrying aspect for Airdrie fans was the awful performance from Owen Coyle. In the last month Coyle has went right off the boil. Last week he was behind opposing defenders three times and failed to get a shot on target. The third time he took a wild dive. Twice in this game he tried the same approach and was rewarded with a caution. His goalscoring contributions have been either penalties or efforts deflected off him (particularly Kevin James' last week). He even claimed the own goal from the Partick defender a couple of weeks ago. Coyle is an Airdrie legend and justifiably so, but I think he owes it to the fans, and himself,to get it together again and cut out the histrionics. Maybe the lack of pace in the forward line beside him, and the midfield dropping further back each game has left him too isolated?

Airdrie's line up (3:5:2): Ferguson; Taylor, Stewart, James; Armstrong, MacFarlane, Gardiner, McPherson, Smith; Roberts, Coyle: Subs, Henry for Armstrong at half time, Dunn for Roberts midway through the second half, and Stuart MacDonald for Gardiner near the end.

Ferguson: Two bad mistakes.

Taylor: Looked uncomfortable and his lack of pace is worrying when he plays in defence.

Stewart: Struggled with high balls played straight down the middle.

James: Our best player as usual.

Armstrong: Was missed when he went off.

MacFarlane: Looked uncomfortable at right wingback.

Gardiner: Worked hard but went round in circles and went no where fast, as usual. Not missed when he went off.

McPherson: Looked far more comfortable back on the left of midfield.

Smith: Missed a sitter that would surely have sealed 3 points.

Roberts: A great goal but worryingly injured.

Coyle: Worked hard, but too easily brushed off the ball. Shouldn't be allowed to take free kicks either!!!!
