It was suggested that as well as the fans view I should add what our opponents view of the game was so here they are QOTS supporters thoughts on Saturdays game.

"today i thought we were well lucky to win, the first half Airdrie ripped us to shreds and it was only some great last ditch defending and saves by Colin Scott (usually I'm slagging him but he was good today, although i would say all his saves were of the expected level of a first division goalkeeper there was nothing outstanding about his performance). Airdrie though then switched from nice passing and interchanges up front to the high ball tactic which we are extremely comfortable with. Queens turned it on second half and good to see bowey answer his critics with a goal."

"good result although we were a bit lucky in the end Scott and JT were immense and bowser was more like his old self"

"It was always going to be close. Was my usual nervous pessimistic barrel of laughs beforehand but cheered up mightily when I heard that Sir Willie Young was to be the man in charge. (Went to the Hearts v Schalke game on Thursday to watch an abysmal display from a Russian ref who should not have been allowed to enter Scotland)
Hardly up off ma knees after my prayer to the Almighty when Airdrie produced from the kick off what was to be the best move of the game and within 20 secs Coyle played not one, but two bediamoned geezers into the box. Colin Scott - later rightly the QoS MoM - produced a superb block save. Thereafter the game moved from end to end with Airdrie passing the ball fairly well. Diamonds' no 11 had a really good game and most of their promising moves came down the left. Last week Clyde worked their sox off to stop us playing. This week Airdrie's weaker midfield let us more into the game, and Bowie was more like himself (thank you, Almighty) after a month of -for him - indifferent performances.
The Airdrie fans gave their side good backing.
Even -steven at half-time. We had more possession and territory but Airdrie had produced the better chances and saves from the keeper.

Second half Queens took the game by the scruff for the opening 15 mins and scored a good goal by Bowie. Almost made it two on a couple of other occasions. Then Airdrie pushed us back and we tried to hit on the break. Some alarms and excursions before Sir William blew for time. tongue.gif
Glad o the points. Airdrie a bit unlucky not to get something. They created enough chances. Hadn't seen them before today. I think they'll be OK this season"

Airdrie were a lot better than they were on two occasions at New Broomfield, although that may have as much to do with our continuing poor home form as it does with them being significantly any better.

I was delayed in getting into the ground due to a late shop customer and didn't see this great chance they had after 10 seconds. Balance of the first half certainly belonged to them though. We did little if anything coming forward whilst they didn't really hurt us much apart from a couple of runs by McLaren. Have to say now that's the first time I've seen him and he's the real deal. Dangerous all day, speedy, skilful, I'd love him in my team. Excellent showing from the young man, although he soured it a little by getting bad tempered and getting himself booked near the end.

Second half was much better from our point of view and we scored in 53 minutes. A corner wasn't properly cleared and, lifted back into the box, McNiven knocked it down for Bowey to prod home. Bowser was much more like his old self today. All energy, winning tackles and scoring a goal for good measure. That's the Bowser we want to see all the time biggrin.gif After that we dominated for about 10 - 15 minutes during which time one fine flowing move should have seen Derek Lyle double the lead. Last 15 minutes we retreated a little as Airdrie tried to save a point and Colin Scott had a couple of decent saves and they missed one excellent chance across the face of goal.

Airdrie deserved a point at least. In fact they may feel they should have got three but they didn't. Again to all intents and purposes they didn't really trouble our defence that much (McLaren apart) and for the third time this season we carved out a narrow win and clean sheet over them.

Sponsors picked Colin Scott for Man of the Match which maybe says a little about the balance of the game but I wouldn't have (although he did do well and I didn't see this early save). For me Eric Paton, restored to full back was better, even faced with McLaren who he did reasonably well with. JT in the middle also had a solid game again whilst Bowser and Colly were much more like the solid unit we've come to expect. Strikers not firing yet but we coped. Three welcome points.
