Airdrie blew a two goal lead at Berwick to snatch a draw from the jaws of victory on a miserable day illuminated by some smooth early play from the rampant Diamonds. But, as former WWF commentator, Gorilla Monsoon, used to profess "A pat on the back is only a 18" away from a kick on the butt".

Not surprisingly Sandy Stewart decided to stick with the same team that obliterated Brechin last week. That meant the impressive strike partnership of Vareille and McKeown again had the chance to increase their goal tally against three of their former team mates in the Berwick line up. Eddie Forrest, Tony Smith and Gordon Connelly of course are now featuring for the English outfit. My only concern before the game, as Bert James offered us a look at the handwritten team sheet, was that there was absolutely no defensive cover on the bench. As always, I feel that Darren Miller should be there to cover the defence or midfield as neither Harvey, Gow, Ronald or Glancy can tackle. Would my fears be ill founded or not?
