Clydebank Utd 3-0 AS Airdrie
Clydebank Utd 3 AS Airdrie 0

the holders crashed out in the quarter finals to a strong clydebank side who thoroughly deserved their victory in wintery drumchapel.

2 changes saw smith and torrens in for the missing kenny and shaw but call offs meant only 2 subs with capaldi joining leishman on the bench

a pretty even first half notable for 3 big moments.halfway through the number 10 for clydebank should have been sent off after kicking out at smith after a late challenge.but the ref just spoke to the 2 players.then clydebank were denied a good goal when a shot went under rowan, hit the back post then rolled over the line before being cleared.luckily for airdrie the ref waved play on.final moment was clydebank taking the lead when the number 17 was given to much room in the box and turned and curled an effort into the far corner.

no changes but the second half saw clydebank control most of the play.they extended the lead when the number 17 was allowed to waltz by 3 soft challenges, cross the ball into the middle and from the blocked clearance the number 7 rifled the ball home.the rest of the half saw airdrie struggle to get back in with lindsay missing their best chance when he fired wide from 12 yards.moments later a break found the clydebank striker clear on goal and he lobbed rowan from the edge of the box to finish the scoring.

not a good day at the office as the best team won convincingly.they were first to the ball most of the game, passed the ball better and defended better.a good side who will challenge for the league and the cups.for airdrie the effort was there but too many slack passes, lack of communication throughout the team and too be honest a result that has been coming.however the players know themselves they didn,t perform and will be looking to put in a big performance next week.
