After last Monday's 1-0 home victory over Hinckley United, Andy Nelson's side travelled to Lincolnshire looking to banish the ghosts of RMI's past and claim their second win on the bounce for the first time this season.
They couldn't have asked for a better start when Andy Roscoe continued his recent upsurge in form by giving the visitors the lead inside twelve minutes of the early afternoon kick off, brought forward to avoid a clash with the Wales-England clash at the Millennium Stadium later this afternoon.
In an often bad-tempered clash, RMI more than held their own for long periods of time to go in at half-time a goal to the good and looking well on course for a second consecutive victory.
However, the hosts had other ideas and they equalised in the second half through former Bolton Wanderers striker of old, David Reeves, before Richard Pell gave Gainsborough yet another home victory over RMI, sending Leigh crashing down to 11th spot in the Conference North table, still a respectable position but one that they will be looking to climb from when they visit Vauxhall Motors next weekend.
