About Us

GenesisLeythers.co.uk has now been running via SportNetwork for almost six years, a time that has seen huge changes at Leigh's premier football club.

When this website first began, the club were known as Leigh RMI and fighting valiantly in the National Conference, then-sponsored by the Nationwide building society, at an atmospheric but out-dated Hilton Park.

As the 2008/2009 season begins, the club have changed their name to Leigh Genesis, playing their home games at the dazzling Leigh Sports Village, ahead of their first UniBond Premier League campaign in eight years as they make huge strides on and off the field to correct the mistakes of the recent past that have seen the club struggle both on and off the field.

GenesisLeythers.co.uk operates not as a rival to the club's revamped official website, but instead as an alternative where things can be analysed in a somewhat more informal context amidst informative and thought-provoking articles, while the website's Fans Forum has been credited by the club as a huge vehicle in helping to mobilise the club's support and increase backing for the team at both home and away games.

But this website isn't just about providing up-to-the-minute news and analysis or discussing the fineries of Leigh's public houses, but also increasing the club's profile at home and across the country, helping to organise travel to away fixtures and provide colourful support for the side with a range of flags, banners and scarves.

In it's pre-name change guise as LeighRMI.Net, this website also sponsored it's own trophy to a Player of the Year that was voted for by users of the website, an initiative that will hopefully continue for several years to come.
