FA Trophy opponents confirmed

By Matt Lawton October 4 2008
Leigh Genesis' opponents in the First Qualifying Round of the FA Trophy have been confirmed this afternoon, with Steve Bleasdale's side travelling over the Pennines in a fortnight to face UniBond League Division One North side Harrogate Railway Athletic.

The game will take place at Railway's Station View home, the venue of Leigh's FA Cup exit of last season in a campaign that saw the hosts eventually face then-League Two side Mansfield Town in front of the BBC cameras, in a fortnight (Saturday 18th October) with a 3pm kick off after Railway were 2-1 victors over FC Halifax Town this afternoon.

The Leigh Genesis Supporters Association will be running a coach to this game, with details to be confirmed over the coming days.

The draw has also been made for the First Round of the Lancashire FA Co-Operative Challenge Cup, with Genesis handed an away tie against North West Counties League neighbours Atherton Collieries, hosts of Leigh's first ever game under the Genesis name, with the visitors winning 5-0 at Alder House earlier this summer.

Although a date has yet to be confirmed for this game, it is likely to take place the week commencing Monday 10th November.

Chuffed that we've drawn Colls in the Lancs Cup, although by my reckoning we're supposed to be playing Prescot in the league for that week?
