FA competitions news

By Matt Lawton July 2 2008
The long road to Wembley Stadium has begun for Leigh Genesis with news on their upcoming opponents in the FA Cup, FA Trophy and FA Youth Cup, with the club's relegation to the UniBond Premier League meaning that they enter the two former competitions at stages earlier than supporters may be used to.

First on the agenda is the First Qualifying Round of the FA Cup, with Leigh Genesis facing an away fixture to one of Curzon Ashton, Runcorn Linnets or Rossington Main, in a tie to be played on Saturday 13th September.

Early September will see the Leigh Genesis youth team have a home fixture against Nantwich Town in the FA Youth Cup, with the victors travelling to Salford City in the next round, while the draw for the FA Trophy First Qualifying Round sees Leigh Genesis facing a War of the Roses encounter against either Harrogate Railway Athletic, Leigh's FA Cup conquerors of last season, or former Conference rivals Halifax Town.
