Pre-season friendlies

By Matt Lawton June 12 2008
After ongoing negotiations with other clubs and the well-documented delay in the club moving in to their dazzling new home at the Leigh Sports Village, Leigh Genesis are now able to confirm the majority of their much anticipated pre-season programme.
The first game of the summer, and the club's first under their new name, sees Steve Bleasdale's side make the short journey to the other side of the old Leigh Borough and face North West Counties League side Atherton Collieries at Alder House on Tuesday 15th July (7:30pm kick off).

The long sporting rivalry between the neighbouring towns of Leigh and Warrington resumes the following Saturday (19th July) when the Leythers take on the Wire, but for the first time it will be the round ball that takes centre stage rather than oval as Genesis travel to Cantilever Park to face Warrington Town (3pm kick off).

The next Saturday (26th July) sees the only scheduled home game of the pre season when Woodley Sports, FA Cup conquerors of Leigh RMI in 2006, visit Hilton Park for a 3pm kick off before the second successive summer trip to the Giant Axe to face Lancaster City on Thursday 31st July (7:30pm).

The final two friendly games that are currently scheduled see two further away games as first Genesis face Trafford, managed by Leigh old boy Ged Kielty, on Saturday 2nd August (3:00pm) before a short trip down the East Lancashire Road to face Salford City at Moor Lane on Tuesday 5th August (7:30pm).

Travel and admission details will be announced prior to each fixture.
