Baggies complete Valero deal
By Jemma Tappenden August 22 2008
It won't come as any surprise to anyone to hear the name Borja Valero in connection with the Baggies, but the long speculation was finally brought to an end today when the club officially released details of his signing, which completed this afternoon for a record £4.7 million.

Albion fans have already had the chance to see Valero this year - he featured as a substitute just two weeks ago at the Hawthorns when West Brom entertained Real Mallorca in a pre season friendly.

Valero has become Albion's ninth summer buy, taking outgoings to £20 million.  £4.7 million of that was handed to the La Liga side this afternoon as the 23 year old midfielder signed a four year contract with the option of another year..

He has become Albion's most expensive player ever, breaking the previous record of £3.5 million splashed out on Robert Earnshaw from Cardiff City in 2004.
