Michael, who is defending his title and going for a record of six wins - which would put him alongside the most successful rider at the Macau circuit, and fellow Briton, ‘Rocket’ Ron Haslam.
Thomas Hinterreiter (1000cc Yamaha Austria Racing Team) is in second place, although he is competing with broken ribs; with John McGuinness aboard the 1000cc Stobart Honda, who is feeling confident that he can stop Mike’s record-breaking bid. John was the runner-up to Mike in last year’s event.

Michael, aboard a new bike for the Grand Prix - “I am aboard a new bike, and it took a bit of setting up” - has won five of the last seven events, and must be feeling confident of yet another win.
The Macau Grand Prix is a street circuit with no run offs, with many walls lining the circuit - it is a nerve of steel race, where concentration is a must, as is the braking zone, where the race can be won or lost on the final bend.
