Toyota left in the dark by F1 Commission
By Nick Sparkes May 31 2006
Toyota along with McLaren are just two of the teams left in the dark by the F1 Commission, who have only approved Ferrari, Renault, Williams, Honda, Red Bull and BMW Sauber to vote for new rules from 2008. This comes after a rethink from FIA president Max Mosley.
Like the 2008 season, the FIA are restructuring the way the election process for new rules happens, with only one team representing each country. With Honda, Super Aguri and Toyota all representing Japan, the FIA picked the most “senior team” to represent their country, thus being Honda. Its not bad for Super Aguri who are considered ‘Honda’s B team’ and will undoubtedly pass their thoughts to their seniors at Honda, but it is bad news for Toyota who are left with no one representing their team, and will clearly be felt to had been ‘left out’ by the FIA.

Max Mosley said: “We need to do it now by fax rather than on July 5 at the next meeting, Because any change the sporting rules which affect the design of the cars for 2008 we have to do before June 30. What we’re proposing is one team from each country. The FIA tradition is country by country.”

Its been clear that Toyota and the FIA aren’t the best of friends, with Max Mosley clearly unimpressed by Toyota’s huge budget, which is rumoured to be one of the biggest in the Formula One paddock. Its also surprising that the worlds largest car maker (Toyota) has been left out by the F1 Commission, which surely must dent the relationship, if any, between the FIA and Toyota.
