Barcelona Day 1 - Toyota 5th and 6th fastest
By Nick Sparkes February 23 2006
Toyota's Jarno Trulli and Ralf Schumacher regained testing after almost a week away. The upgraded TF106 made its first appearance with the other teams and its first competitive test has shown some impressive form. Another team bouncing back was McLaren, with Kimi Raikkonen they went fastest.
Although Kimi's lap was sent at the end of the day, its showing signs that the new McLaren isn't much of a pig after all. Behind the Finn came the two Renault's of Giancarlo Fisichella and Fernando Alonso, who on a rare occasion suffered mechanical problems during the day.

Jenson Button managed to get his Honda ahead of the two Toyota's, with Jarno Trulli and Ralf Schumacher showing a much improved pace with their new aerodynamic package.

Super Aguri ran their second driver Yuji Ide for the second day, although the car was 9.2 seconds off the pace, the team were concentrating on system checks more than fastest laps.
