Ralf Schumacher To Leave Toyota
By Luke Marc Carlile-Stanton October 1 2007
German ace Ralf Schumacher has announced he will leave Toyota at the end of the 2007 Formula 1 Season. The announcement comes after year long speculation about Ralf's future at the Japanese Marque. The brother of the 7 Times Formula 1 World Champion Michael Schumacher, made the announcement on his official website today.

Ralf joined Toyota in 2005 and in that time has scored 3 podiums at the Hungarian and Chinese Frand Prix's of 2005 and in the Australian Grand Prix in 2006, all being third places.

Ralf says that now he his time at Toyota has almost be run, it is time for a ''new challenge.''

He added: "I joined Toyota with high expectation, it was an exciting challenge to be involved in developing a new car and team, but I am waiting for years for a competitive car."

2007 has been a low year for Toyota, the team struggling in 6th place in the Constructors Standings with 12 points, 11 points behind 5th placed Red Bull with three races to go. Both drivers Jarno Trulli and Ralf have been frustrated with the lack of results, very probably a factor in Ralf's decision to leave the team.

Jarno and Ralf lie 13th and 14th in the Drivers Standing's on 7 and 5 points respectively.

No word has been made on Ralf's future in Formula 1 or Motorsport in general, but he did say prior to Sunday's Japanese Grand Prix that he will not make that announcement until after the final race in Interlargos, Brazil.

TTF1 would like to thank Ralf for being part of the Toyota Team and wishes him the best of luck in his future.
