New Kit Launch Tomorrow

New Kit Launch Tomorrow
By Andrew Collins June 28 2008
Cardiff Blues will celebrate their new kit launch tomorrow, with a cat walk from current players, who will be modelling the replica jerseys and new merchandise range for the seasons 08/09 and 09/10.
Some information has already leaked regarding the new home and away kits, with the style expected to follow that of Canterbury's World Cup shirts for Ireland, Scotland, Japan, Australia and South Africa.

The Cardiff Blues home jersey will be in a similar style to this, but in blue and white, while in a bizarre choice of away shirt, cerise will be the chosen primary colour.

As well as the new playing merchandise, Sunday's Family Fun Day will also launch a new range of unofficial supporters jerseys, polo shirts, t-shirts, hoodies, jackets and more.

Canterbury also supply kits for French sides Castres and Clermont, English giants London Wasps and fellow Celtic League teams, Ulster and Leinster, with their shirts also likely to be the same design, but of course featuring their own unique colours.

The new shirts are likely to start at £50 for Men, and range up to £70, depending on the material, Ladies at £45 featuring ¾ length sleeves, and junior sizes available from £40 and be available in long and short sleeve.

Of course, the benefit of new merchandise being released is massive reduction in prices of current Blues products. The 06-08 home and away shirts is now available form just £20, while other clothing and accessories also come down in price.

To make the most of these reductions, visit the Cardiff Blues shop at the Arms Park, or online at http://cardiffblues.officialshop.net/home.php

And to be the first to see the new shirts, make sure to be at the Arms Park on Sunday from 12.00pm for this free event.

I'm going along on my own!! Gonna have to stick my Blues shirt on to make sure I don't look like a complete weirdo too!(Sm100)

Keen to see the new shirts, I hope they don't just follow the international designs (no club sides have used this design as yet, the Wasps strip is definitely different)

As usual the Blues website is useless for any news that breaks on a Sunday.

To be fair, the club never actually said that the new kit would be launched at the fun day. On display was the new range of kids apparel branded by the club themself (so not 'unofficial')

Admittedly people were dissapointed but June is very early for a kit launch given experiences with Canterbury in the past.

If the marketing department have any sense they will launch the kit at a seperate event in the clubhouse similar to the 'meet the players' events.

Most likely though will be a media/sponsor affair to which most of us won't be invited.

It's worked out pretty well in all truth, you should have seen the old shirts flying off the shelves at the fun day. I guess that could work against them with sales of the new shirts, but the kids seemed to be all donning a Cardiff Blues kit, and that can only be good news.
