Three Blues In 7’s

There are three Cardiff Blues in Gareth Babers IRB World Sevens squad. Andy Powell, Dafydd Hewitt and Aled Brew are in involved, while 2 former Blues and a member of Cardiff RFC last season are also included.

Joining Andy, Daf and new signing Aled in the set up is Nick Macloed, making his sevens debut, Tal Selley and Ritchie Pugh. The team is captained by the Scarlets full back Jonathan Edwards. Baber said,

"With more players available to us this time and playing close to home we are determined to finish the season on a high."

Wales play Moldova, Argentina and New Zealand this weekend in England before heading to Edinburgh the following weekend, while the final round of European qualifiers for the 2009 World Cup takes place in Georgia.

You just know that Nick Macleod and Andy Powell are going to be superb at sevens and lauded as the next big things...

7's is a pointless exercise when it comes to judging a player for the 15 man game.
