East Fife win 4-0, despite Graham being out injured and captain Farnan suspended. First goal after 9 mins when Love crossed from the right for James Herkes to head home at the near post. 10 mins later, Deuchar made it 2-0 from another Love cross from the right. The big striker peeled off from the defence at the back post to head home unchallenged.
Then, a brilliant turn and shot from Herkes from 25 yards looked in all the way but crashed back off the inside of the post. At this point Elgin amazingly made a triple substitution, and to be fair they played quite well for the rest of the 1st half but the score stayed 2-0.
Only 3 mins into the 2nd half, Allison's cross from the right was met by the head of Kenny Deuchar and it was 3-0. 2 mins later, Herkes burst through before rounding the keeper to make it 4-0.
The game pretty much died at this point as Elgin concentrated on keeping the score down, especially after 65 mins when their striker hobbled out of the game leaving them with only 10 men (no subs left).
We had two penalty claims denied in a minute, the second of which was a deliberate handball on the goal line - clear pen and red card, the referee amazingly giving a corner.
In summary: It was 4 going on 8.
