Butter penalty save helps East Fife win a point

East Fife played Stirling today as clear favourites looking for three home points. Things didn't go to plan when Stirling took a first half lead and were then awarded a penalty. Fife keeper Jim Butter saved well and the home side equalised through a fine Kenny Deuachar header in the second half...
East Fife did hit the post and have two attempts cleared off the line by Stirling defenders in the game. Although not exactly a convincing performance, the home side did have enough decent chances to wrap up three vital points.

With the last action of the game in injury time, East Fife should have sealed a victory when Love put Herkes through in on goal but he hesitated, slowed up and played the ball back to Love who blasted over the bar. I thought that Herkes (who had a pretty poor game by his standards and shouldn't have played the whole 90 mins) could have shown more confidence and went for goal himself with the best of opportunities to win the game with the last kick of the ball.

Maybe I'm just bitter because East Fife let me down on my fixed-odds today !!

East Fife still maintain their two point lead at the top of the table with a tasty trip to Greenock to look forward to next weekend.

First though, the small matter of Motherwell in the CIS Cup this Tuesday night...
