Ken Hashimoto now holds the post of Executive Technical Adviser to the F1 Chassis Technology Development team at Honda R&D, and that's partly due to his life-long passion for racing, starting out back in 1971 when he joined the Honda Motor Company.

Originally part of the development team for the first generation Prelude sports car, Ken then spent four years assigned to Honda R&D Americas. In 1979 he was appointed Acting Large Project Leader of the initial Integra Project, before spending time developing racing vehicles, including the Civic Group-A and F3000 cars.

While posted as Acting LPL of the Civic project in 1988, Hashimoto was also involved in development of the legendary Honda NSX. A year later and Ken was Director of Honda R&D.

A switch to Executive Chief Engineer at Honda R&D allowed Ken the honour of taking on a Project Leader role, developing racing vehicles, including the NSX for the Le Mans Race.

In 1999 he progressed to being Managing Director of Honda R&D, spending two years in the position before taking on the role of Executive Chief Engineer at Honda R&D, as well Head of Worldwide Production Automobile Evaluation.

The racing bug bit again in 2002, with Hashimoto becoming Head of F1 Chassis Technology Development at Honda R&D, working closely with Honda Racing Development and BAR. Last year saw Hashimoto step back, but only slightly, to become Executive Technical Adviser of F1 Chassis Technology Development.
