Andrew Shovlin graduated from Leeds University in 1998, after completing a BEng in Mechanical Engineering, followed by a PhD in Vehicle Dynamics and Control. During his time at Leeds, he was involved in a project sponsored by the Defense Evaluation and Research Agency to develop suspension systems for the next generation of off-road military logistics vehicle.

Andrew joined the Research & Development department at BAR Honda in November 1998. His role focused on vehicle modelling and simulation.

In December 2000, he was promoted to Assistant Race Engineer for Olivier Panis whom he worked with for two years. When Jenson Button arrived at BAR Honda in 2003, Andrew worked alongside Craig Wilson on Jenson's car, also in the capacity of Assistant Race Engineer.

In 2004, Andrew moved up to Senior Race Engineer, taking on full responsibility for engineering Jenson in what was his most successful season to date with four 2nd and six 3rd positions, and continued the partnership throughout 2005 and 2006.

Andrew will again be engineering Jenson's car for the 2007 season.
