FIA ask for BAR Honda 2005 season ban

As BAR Honda put forward their defence to the International Court of Appeal, the FIA have asked for the team to be excluded from the 2005 championship and face a significant fine. In part of their evidence to the court, the FIA asked the Court to "exclude the Lucky Strike BAR Honda team from the 2005 Formula One World Championship and to fine the team at least one million Euros."

If the court find in favour of the FIA then it paints a very bleak picture for BAR Honda, but also for F1 itself. With public confidence in the sport as low as its ever been, removing a vibrant team from the championship, while forcing other teams to run a third car, would bring F1 back into the spotlight for all the wrong reasons.
