Points System

For qualifying, you will get 20 points for pole position in second qualifying, with 16 points for 2nd, and 14 for 3rd, then 12, 11, 10, 9 and so on until 15th. 16th to 20th gets no points.

Qualifying points will be awarded to both of your drivers, the first car of your chosen chassis, the first car with your chosen engine, and the top finisher on your chosen tyres.

For the race, drivers will get 100 points for a win, with 80 points for 2nd, and 70 for 3rd, then 60, 55, 50, 45 and so on until 15th. 16th to 20th gets no points. Chassis, engine and tyre suppliers will get 40 points for a win, with 32 points for 2nd, and 28 for 3rd, then 24, 22, 20, 18 and so on until 15th. 16th to 20th gets no points. There's a single 8 point bonus for any part of your team (apart from tyres) setting fastest lap.

Race points will be awarded to both of your drivers, both cars of your chosen chassis, both cars with your chosen engine, and the top two finishers on your chosen tyres.

Retirements lead to a loss of points. A retirement due to driver error gets -30 points. Mechanical failure in race gets -30 applied. If your chassis, engine or driver registers the first retirement of the race, for any reason, there's another -10 penalty.

To demonstrate the points system, we'll use this example. You have a Ferrari chassis, Mercedes engine, Michelin tyres and Button and Klien driving. Button qualifies 6th, with Klien in 16th. M Schumacher is on pole in the Ferrari with Raikkonen in third. Montoya was second. You will get...

Button
Klien
Ferrari
Mercedes
Michelin
Total
10 points
0 points
20 points (top qualifying Ferrari)
14 points (top qualifying Mercedes)
16 points (top Michelin runner)
60 points

In the race, Button retires due to engine failure, and is classified as 14th. Klien finishes 9th. M Schumacher comes home at the front, followed by R Schumacher, Montoya, Coulthard, Raikkonen, Barrichello, Sato and Alonso. M Schumacher set the fastest lap time. Your points haul will be...

Button
Klien
Ferrari
Mercedes
Michelin
Fastest Lap
Total
-20 points (10 for 14th, -30 for mechanical failure)
35 points
60 points (40 for M Schumacher, 20 for Barrichello)
52 points (28 for Coulthard, 24, for Raikkonen)
60 points (32 for R Schumacher, 28 for Montoya)
8 points (Set by a Ferrari chassis)
195 points

Total for the weekend: 255 points from a maximum 500

I hope that all makes sense!
