Monaco: Thunderstorms for race day?

It's been a number of years since the most treacherous race on the calendar has been run in treacherous conditions, but it could happen again on Sunday. It's currently a pleasant 19°C in Monaco, but it looks like it's going to get hotter for Sunday, with a forecast temperature of 24°C. However, there's also the tantalising prospect of thunderstorms on Sunday afternoon.

The climate at Monaco is notoriously difficult to predict, however, due to the presence of the Ligurian Rock that surrounds the city. Indeed, there are conflicting forecasts coming from various sources, some of which indicate a bright, sunny afternoon.

If you're wondering, the last wet race at Monaco was in 1997, where Michael Schumacher led after then Williams drivers Villeneuve and Frentzen spun off. In 1996 Olivier Panis got a win for Ligier following a wet race where only four cars finished.
