It seems that the 'handbags at twenty paces' battle between Lucky Strike BAR Honda team-mates Jenson Button and Jacques Villeneuve is finally over. When Button was signed to the Brackley outfit Jacques Villeneuve, his nose clearly out of joint, told the press that the English youngster would have to impress him if the 1997 World Champion was to accept him. In subsequent outbursts to the media Villeneuve said that Button had achieved nothing and compared him to a 'boy band'.

In due course Button hit back and before long we had a full blown war of words which in all honesty was both pathetic and boring.

As the season has developed Button and Villeneuve appear to have buried the hatchet and at times seem to be getting on quite well. Asked today how he is getting on with the feisty French-Canadian, Button replied: "We are working well together well.

Pushed a little harder, he added: "I think we said a few things that were a bit pathetic really but had to be said. But we are working well together now," he continued. "We are both very competitive, as we all are."

Jenson mate, if you get a podium this weekend and JV has another 'retirement', then come back and tell us how well you're both getting on...
