Ralph Firman to test 2002-spec BAR

British American Racing will test 2002 Formula Nippon champion Ralph Firman in December, during a planned test at the Barcelona circuit.

British American Racing will test 2002 Formula Nippon champion Ralph Firman in December, during a planned test at the Barcelona circuit.
Formula Nippon is similar to Formula 3000, and provides an ideal proving ground for F1 drivers. Firman clinched the title at the final round in Suzuka driving for Nakajima Racing, the team led by former Japanese ex-F1 driver Satoru Nakajima.
BAR team boss David Richards said "We congratulate Ralph on his success this year and are delighted to offer him a Formula 1 test. As Japan’s top series, Formula Nippon is widely recognised as one of the best proving grounds for future talent. BAR will continue to monitor the Nippon series as part of our ongoing evaluation of young drivers."
Firman will test this years BAR004 car on 15 December.
