A product of the Pontypridd Youth Team, Ceri Sweeney has developed into a top class outside half. Having come through the youth team ranks, Sweeney found himself as the understudy to Lee Jarvis. However, when Jarvis departed to Neath, Sweeney had his chance to become a first team regular for Pontypridd as he was the only recognised outside half in the squad.

In the past, people have critisised Sweeney as he isn't a recognised goalkicker. However, whilst at Pontypridd the kicking duties were either given to Brett Davey or Neil Jenkins which didn't allow him to show us what he can do. But with Davey moving to Gwent, Sweeney has his chance to show us what he can do.
