'Who do you love more...me or football?'. The question every football fan dreads. Bangor City fan 'Livzy' explains his love of all-things Bangor, in part 3 of his infamous 'Moiderings'. Enjoy!!! New Page 1

Livzy moiderings (part three)

It’s that ole’ devil called love again… ...at least it is for me when the League season kicks off. Or we go away on a Euro trip. Or we start the pre-season friendlies. Once upon a time, we were in the Northern Prem playing every Saturday and every Tuesday. Many people were against the League of Wales because it would mean less games and therefore less revenue for the clubs. Tell you what; what with the Prem Cup, League Cup, Welsh Cup and League games (not to mention Euro qualifiers), I reckon there’s more than ever! It’s a fine line to tread when you are a family man. How many of us fans hardly see our kids Monday to Friday because of work and then take off every Saturday to footy? Home games aren’t so bad but the away trips are basically a whole day out. (15 hour round trip to Lido for example!) My missus is pretty understanding, to be fair, but does have the occasional “eppi” I can see her point but, as I say to her, “It’s Bangor City, love. Its what I do. It’s my hobby and my passion. I can’t help it”, I tell her, “I’ve been going to City for over 25 years (give or take) It hardly seem likely that I’m going to stop now!” Fortunately my five-year-old son loves coming down Farrar Road (dressed in his replica kit of course) and my two-year-old daughter is soon to be a regular visitor too. My argument is that my kids (and in a few years, their mates,) are the future of the Club, so it’s my “duty” to take them to Farrar Road as often as I can. They’ve both done a few away trips too and, car sickness apart, have enjoyed the experience. August to May, to the Ball & Chain, is a long, long season. To me it flies by! It’s unfair to say my whole life revolves around footy but our family holiday is usually booked around the UEFA Cup/Champs League/Inter-Toto qualifiers – purely by accident of course! As if I’d really go into the travel agents the October before with the UEFA website dates in my hand!!! (Thing is now – I’ll be busted when she reads this!) What with a Euro trip and pre-season friendlies, the Bangor City season ends in May and starts again the end of June! Not many weeks in which to get yer two weeks in the sun! Perhaps I could be a bit more considerate and miss a few matches. Maybe the old Bread Knife is right and I don’t need to go 200+ miles into the back end of nowhere in late July for a pre-season game but I don’t half get irritable when I know there’s a team wearing Bangor City shirts playing a match and I’m not at it!  I dread the day she asks me “Who do you love more? Me or bl**dy Bangor bl**dy City”!! Would any of you be able to give your answer - hand on heart and without blushing, looking away or generally being unconvincing? I’m not sure if I could!!!!!
