Round 4-Barcelona, Spain

History

Barcelona is a truly magnificent city, it packed full of historic monuments as well as a lively culture which is appealing to all. The circuit is well known to every driver, which dampen downs the excitement for race, although it has a well known layout, people still make mistakes.

A new chicane near the end of the lap has been put into place, it should not only provide extra overtaking places, it will certainly make more drivers make mistakes and therefore make the race a lot more interesting. Although last years race didn’t provide much ecitement.

Although the new chicane is here, there is one thing that you cannot escape, it’s an old circuit, with the teams testing there than any other circuit, which makes the drivers confident around the circuit, and makes the racing quite dull, with the added effect of a lack of overtaking oppertunities, it makes the Spanish Grand Prix, pretty ordanary.

Since Fernando Alonso entered the sport, the Spanish track has been packed with Alonso fans, which will make it hard to get a good seat at the circuit. When the formula one teams stop racing for the day, Barcelona will provide you with a great nightlife, and fantastic restaurants to eat in, and argue with your fellow formula one fans.

Where to watch

As always, turn one is the best opportunity for overtaking so either the grandstands along the start-finish straight, or the grandstands into turn one and two are the best places to catch some of the action. Going into turn 10 is another good overtaking opportunity.

Lap of the track

McLaren Fans Predictions.

The Ferraris look mighty around the Circuit de Catalunya; Felipe Massa posted a time almost three whole seconds faster than his best pole time last year, though he was running slicks, nevertheless, Ferrari look to dominate again.

McLaren don’t look as strong as they did this time last year, they enter the Spanish Grand Prix down in third place in the constructors table. McLaren didn’t look that fast during testing, though they could be playing the same trick that BMW played during winter testing.

BMW enter the fourth race of the season on top of the constructors table and look to be the main contenders to challenge McLaren and Ferrari for the win.
