The Vodafone McLaren Mercedes formula one team have completed the second day of testing in Eastern Spain. Hamilton stepped in to the breach on Tuesday’s testing in Barcelona. His first look at the team’s upgraded package saw him under 0.2s off Massa’s time, putting him in fifth for the day.
Hamilton stepped in to the breach on Tuesday's testing in Barcelona. His first look at the team's upgraded package saw him under 0.2s off Massa's time, putting him in fifth for the day.

With 79 laps under his belt, Barrichello completed the day's testing at the top of the time sheets while running his RA108 on 2009-spec rubber. It seemed to be a day for Formula 1 veterans as Fisichella ended his day 0.8s behind Reubens, also on slicks.

The teams we are most accustomed to seeing at the front of the field followed on from there. On the whole they were all concentrated on development and set up work specific to next week's Spanish Grand Prix. Massa spent the day on grooves while Coulthard concentrated on aero tesing in the morning and suspension development in the afternoon.

Alonso rolled out his R28 sporting an engine cover ‘fin' for the first time and he seemed happy with the car's progress.

Rosberg and Glock were both out focusing on slick tyre evaluations while Heidfeld, who finished the day at the bottom of the time sheets, drove his F1.08 with 2008 specifications throughout the day.
