Japanese Grand Prix Preview

The Japanese Grand Prix is to be held at the Toyota owned Fuji Speedway, the circuit features the longest straight on the formula one calendar, the main straight is 1.5KM long, which makes the Fuji circuit an ideal place to overtake. Since teams have a limited knowledge of the circuit and with the possibility of rain, the Japanese Grand Prix should be a thriller.

History of the circuit.

This years Japanese Grand Prix will be held at the Fuji Speedway about 64KM west of the Japanese city of Yokohama, which made its first appearance on the formula one calendar in 1976, however the circuit has been raced at since 1966.

Since no driver on the formula one grid has raced at the Fuji Speedway, it should help even out the playing field for next weekends race, and make the battle for the world drivers championship that little bit more interesting.

The Japanese Grand Prix is famous for deciding the world drivers championship in the final round of the championship, usually producing fantastic racing. In 2004 the last grand prix of the season moved from Japan to Brazil.

Characteristics of the circuit.

The circuit hosts the longest straight on the formula one calendar, the main straight at Fuji is 1.5KM long, a good 300 meters more than any circuit on the calendar today. p>

Because of the circuits long main straight, this years formula one cars will undoubtedly reach 200mph, the circuit features mid to high speed corners, with a few hairpins to add to the mix. Whatever happens, it will be a learning process for all teams.
