Collins Cup, Dublin.
By Glyn James November 29 2002
In what has been described as the Ryder Cup of tennis, the WTA stars will head to Dublin in what will be a battle between Europe's elite and USA's elite. Among the stars are Jelena Dokic, Anna Kournikova and the Williams sisters.
The event will take place at the Royal Dublin Society between the 5th and 7th of December, and it seems as though the Irish really are lucky considering the top quality athletes that are participating here.

Here's how the teams match up -

EUROPE:
Jelena Dokic
Anna Kournikova
Daniela Hantuchova
Iva Majoli
Barbara Schett

USA:
Serena Williams
Venus Williams
Lindsay Davenport
Jennifer Capriati
Monica Seles

As you can see, the Americans are pulling out all the stops and fielding what is is clearly their best players, where as the European side are lacking both Belgians and Martina Hingis.

The tennis isn't expected to be as competitive as the Fed Cup or any other regular event on the WTA tour, however, both teams will be looking for glory to stand them in good stead for the new season which is getting ever nearer.

Here's how the schedule looks -
December 5
Davenport v Schett
Seles v Kournikova

December 6
Seles & Davenport v Schett & Majoli
Williams & Williams v Hantuchova & Dokic

December 7
S Williams v Majoli
V Williams v Dokic
Capriati v Hantuchova

Brits can catch the action live on sky sports 1, 2, & 3.
