A Manchester United XI included world cup star Paul Scholes in the starting line-up to face a City side who have lost their last 3 friendly's.

Chester - Brown, Harkness, Guyett, Hatswell, McIntyre, Brodie, Kelly, Carey, Twiss, Woodyat, Beesley.

Manchester United XI - Steele, Roche, Hilton, Tierney, May, Scholes, Muirhead, Lynch, Williams, Nardiello, Richardson.

City lost their 4th match in a row but Wright can't be disappointed with last night’s performance against a strong Manchester United XI. City started poorly and failed to clear a corner before David May headed the Red Devils into a 1-0 lead via a deflection.

Chester's Steve Brodie has really been very impressive since his move from Swansea City and yesterday (Tuesday) was no exception. The lively attractive midfielder wasn't scared of putting a challenge in and held nothing back. Also McIntyre and Woodyat had very good games.

in both half’s of the game City pegged Manchester United in their own half for lengthy periods. United were very strong and the second goal came in the first half when Williams struck on the turn to beat Wayne Brown.

in the second half Chester started brightly and a penalty decision was not given when Twiss was pulled back in the area just before he was about to shoot. However United made it 3 in front of their huge loyal following (of about 50). A cross was caught by Brown but lost after he collided with a Chester defender. (Hatswell I think!) Richardson made it 3-0 before being substituted.

Chester began to play attractive football and for the first time in the game got "stuck in" to the team from Manchester. Substitute Blackburn was pulled back in the penalty area but nothing was given once again by the plump referee.

City converted a concellation goal in the last minute of the game when newly signed Aussie Scott Guyett controlled in the box before riffling a left footed strike past Steele.
