The Gas set out to get all three points against a Lincoln side who's future looked under considerable doubt during the summer months due to financial difficulties.
Rovers’ fans expected a good performance from the players after losing two games on the trot; we have been very unlucky so far this season so to get a bit of good luck swing our way was great.
The first goal came from a terrific cross from Wayne Carlisle who managed to get the ball over to Mark McKeever who's persistence paid off. McKeever took his shot which took a wicked deflection of that defender and beat the despairing 'keeper to make it 1-0. Who's goal was it though? After the game Mark said that he was certain that it was his goal and considering he had a great game I think he deserved it.
Shortly after the break kicked off, Rovers were given a penalty after the ref thought he saw a tug on the shirt of Paul Tait. Grazioli missed his last penalty against Exeter and was determined to make amends by doubling the lead. Confidently, he placed the ball into the bottom right hand corner - phew! 2-0.
The Pirates could have had more goals during the game. Grazioli was put through by Paul Tait in the first half and was one-on-one with the 'keeper unfortunately his side footed shot was comfortably side saved by the Lincoln number 1.
With about 15 minutes left of the game Paul Tait found himself virtually clear but failed to convert his effort after trying to side foot it home from 7 yards.
The promising youngster David Gilroy almost made it 3-0 but his header was saved by the 'keeper. A great cross from Carlisle and good movement from Gilroy made the chance happen.
Overall, 2-0 is a great result and hopefully this time consistency will start to sink in and we can enjoy more games like this.
Thanks for reading.
Come on you blues!
