Hot young prospect David Gilroy as usual got himself on the score sheet and did his chances of getting a game in the first team no harm after opening the scoring with a typical cool finish after a neat one-two with strike partner Justin Richards just minutes before the break.
After playing a part in the opening goal, Mark McKeever popped up in the box to head home after a good cross from Tony Davis - a rare headed goal for him.
The second goal of the game seemed to spark The Cobblers into life as now both teams began to look increasingly dangerous coming forward. Greg Lincoln hit Ryan Clarke's post and Simon Bryant did well to clear Armand One's shot off the line after Clarke was beaten and during this spell of offensive action for the visitors they finally got the break through after a scramble in the box.
Between these pieces of action Gilroy was creating chances again and forced 'keeper Mark Bunn into a fine stop. Richards was look dangerous as well and was on the end of chances rather than creating and missed two that he should really have put away. But Richards was not to be denied and found himself being the provider and not the scorer as he picked out McKeever who dove in to score his second header of the game.
David Gilroy then turned provider as well as he laid back the ball for Lewis Hogg to slam home from the edge of the area and seal a convincing but yet slightly flattering scoreline at the end of the match.
