Should Robert Earnshaw find the net tomorrow against Notts County, he will become only the fourth post-war Cardiff City player to hit 30 goals in a season.

Earnshaw has 25 league goals to his name already this season, and his hat-trick against Boston United in the League Cup, and goal against Coventry City in the FA Cup take his tally up to 29 for the season so far. Earnshaw's fantastic record this season sees him 21
goals ahead of any other Cardiff player, and he is current the highest
scorer in the English Football League.
The last City player to reach the big 30 was Carl Dale in the 1995/96 season. Despite the Bluebirds finishing a miserable 22nd in the table Dale still managed to net 21 league goals, and his 9 Cup strikes took him up to the big 30. Before Dale you have to go back as far as 1969 to find the last City player to net 30+ goals in a season. John Toshack was the man who couldn't stop scoring that season, finishing the season with 31 goals to his name
The other post-war City player to get 30 in a season was Lee Richards, who currently holds City's record for the most league goals in a season (30) in just 35 appearances. Records of goalscorers are sketchy before the war, but one other player who can add his name to the list is Hughie Ferguson. Fergie, who scored the winning goal in the 1927 FA Cup Final, netted 32 goals in the same season
