Team India,
Thank you so much for a trip down memory lane. It was wonderful to be brought back to the era of 1985-2002 when we won the odd one day tourney, but in general were laggards in world cricket. How nice to be treated to the same errors again. In fact we can now see this is getting to be part of the game plan... you guys are doing it since Sep 2004!
1. Captain Dravid, thanks for the sweet defeat speech. Blaming the conditions, tough opposition, always with a smile... reminded me so much of Sunny, Paaji and Azhar as captains... lovely. Where was the damn shame, the anger at a poor performance, at losing 3 straight games to the Lankans, especially throwing away 2 we should have won?
2. Dhoni, nice keeping! That is your job right?? I mean, byes, dropped catches, and nice job even trying to bend down to that edge off Nehra that skidded past you. Glad you keep that stupid smile on your face all the time!
3. Bhajji, thanks for shouting at Nehra when he fielded a shot off your bowling. Great team spirit and unity... and nice job returning the compliment. I mean it was you fumbled and gave away 3 runs of Nehra's bowling later right?
4. Actually great fielding all around, you guys. Slow chases, dropped catches. I am glad a country of 20 million called Sri Lanka produces better cricket athletes.
5. Zak, Irfan and Kumble, heaven forbid you guys should have 2 consequtive strong bowling performances. I mean why should you? Leave that to the Aussies, that's their job.
6. Oh yes, I remember how we used to chase 10 years ago: let the required run rate go up to 7/over and then try silly shots and get out... glad you guys followed that plan. It used to work wonders.
7. Sehwag, won't be sarcastic with you. You did get us off to a good start. However, I was watching a video of you in Aus 1.5 yrs ago. Can we lose the 10 extra kgs? Perhaps then we can jump more than half a foot when Jayasuria edges the ball above your head at slip?
