Wolves were shown the alternative to neat swift passing on Saturday as Luton's one dimensional - but effective - style of football earned them a point at Kenilworth Road.

Wolves were below par and had Goalkeeper Michael Oakes to thank for ensuring Wolves left Luton with a point after a torrid afternoon for the gold and black back four.

Hungarian International Gobor Gyepes made his league debut in the heart of defence whilst the injured Kenny Miller made just twenty minutes after feeling the hip injury which saw he removed from Scotlands game away at Norway in mid-week.

The game was a lesson for Wolves in which they learnt the how to dig and grind out some sort of result, but it could have been all three points as Leon Clarke missed a guilt edged chance in the last minute. The 18 year old blasted high over the bar after being tee'd up well by Carl Cort.

Wolves had taken the lead mid-way through the first half when Cort grabbed his fourth goal in two games. The former Newcastle United man hammered home from close range after a ball across the box by the impressive Mark Kennedy.

However Luton hammered at the Wolves door and only a great save from Oakes diving down to his left prevented the sides going into the break level.

The second half was much like the first. Luton huffed a puffed whilst Wolves showed moments of class which could have seen them take what would have been an undeserved lead.

However Wolves resistance caved in ten minutes from time as Nicholls' effort beat Oakes after long spells of dominance from the home side.

Wolves huffed and puffed late on and could have earned all three points, Clarke's lack of composure in front of goal ensured both sides earned a decent point.
