Wolves today played a behind closed doors friendly with Stoke City at the Wolves training base in a game which took place in three stages of 30 minutes in order for Wolves to give some of the long-term injured casualties a chance to build up their fitness.

Vio Ganea and George Ndah who have not played competitively for the first team for over 15 and 26 months respectively both came through 30 minutes and have now joined up with the rest of the squad in Dundee for this weekends City Of Discovery cup competition.

A hat-trick by 18 year old Chris Cornes provided Wolves with a comfortable 3-0 victory, but the game was marred by a serious injury to 21 year old Irish International Sammy Clingan.

Clingan, who has only appeared for the first team once, fell badly on his wrist in the opening stages of the game and after an X-Ray in Hospital the worst - a fractured wrist - was confirmed.

"I feel really sorry for Sammy. He has worked hard since the players reported back and has been doing very well." Coach Terry Connor told the clubs official website.

"He fell awkwardly on his wrist after having a shot and it was immediately very clear that he was in trouble. It goes without saying that we all wish him a very speedy recovery."

Part of the squad (below) was 18 year old trialist Peter Kilgour. Six of the squad (Jones, Lowe, Riley, Davies, Ganea and Ndah) involved in todays game have now caught a flight up to Scotland. Clingan, who was due to make the trip has been told to stay at home and will check into Molineux over the weekend to be checked by Physio's.

The Wolves Squad: Jones, Little, Rafferty, Clingan (Fitzpatrick 22), Lowe, Riley, Gobern, Kilgour (Taylor 74), Ganea (Cornes 30), Davies, Ndah (Hughes 30). Unused sub: Hennessey.
