Tragedy As Girl Heading To Sheffield Match Dies

WOLVESFC.CO.UK was saddened to hear the news that a Wolves Fan died yards from Molineux Stadium prior to the game with Sheffield United on Sunday. New Page 2 New Page 1

16 year old Kate Freeman, from Kidderminster, was believed to have been heading to Molineux Stadium when she was hit by a car on Waterloo Road just a couple of hours before the game with Sheffield United on Sunday morning.

Kate Freeman was air lifted to Selly Oak Hospital in Birmingham but sadly died from her injuries at around 6.30pm on Sunday evening.

The ring-road was closed for several hours as traffic police investigated the incident. Nobody had been arrested.

Police Ned Kelly told the E&S "It is extremely sad and our worst fears about the accident came true. She suffered massive injuries and doctors had to switch her machine off after several hours"

Thousands of fans heading towards the game witnessed the immediate aftermath but Police are urging for anyone with any information to come forward.
