FORMER Wolverhampton Wanderers and Manchester United star Denis Irwin has apologised for the part he played in drawing Wolves a tough away tie at Arsenal in the FA Cup.

The former Wolves hero [pictured] who retired at the end of last season picked Wolves to play away at Highbury in the Fourth Round of the FA Cup and immediately sent messages to his former team mates saying sorry for handing Wolves such a tough draw.

"I had loads of texts about the draw as I was leaving the training ground yesterday and I was surprised to see one was from Denis [Irwin]," Said Wolves goalkeeper Matt Murray.

"He said he was sorry for giving us a tough one but all the lads will look forward to going to Highbury."

Murray (pictured top) played just one game in the Premiership - on the opening day of the season - before being ruled out for a year through injury. The highly-rated shot-stopper only made his return to first team action at the weekend, but he says he would relish the chance to step out at highbury.

"I'd love to be involved." Said Matt "I missed out on going there last season so I'd particularly welcome the chance at lining up against some of the country best players."

MEANWHILE Wolves have decided to use the bonus loyalty scheme for the first time when selling tickets for the tie with Arsenal.

Wolves Chief Executive Jez Moxey told the clubs official website "We have been encouraging all supporters, especially season ticket holders purchasing away tickets, to submit their supporter numbers every time they buy a match ticket to give themselves an advantage should we have a fixture where demand exceeds supply. By adopting this system our most loyal supporters will be re warded with priority to purchase a ticket that might not otherwise be available for them to buy."
