WOLVES poor start to the season continued today with a 0-0 draw at home with Leeds United. Wolves had the chance to win all three points in the 88th minute, but Kenny Millers' penalty was saved by Neil Sullivan.
Wolves Manager Dave Jones was pleased with the performance, considering the serious injuries which currently hampers the squad. Rookie Leon Clarke made his second ever start for the club whilst Colin Cameron was forced to play through injury. "What was out there was all we've got - but we will get stronger." Said Jones after the match.
Wolves' performance was a huge improvement from that against Stoke City and the first half against Preston and Leon Clarke came close early on when his quick-fire shot was well saved by Sullivan "The lad [Clarke] is doing everything we ask of him," said Jones. "However, you can't expect a youngster to lead the line and get us out of this division because he will have his dips."
Wolves had the chance to win all three points in the last minute when Kenny Miller was fouled in the penalty area by pre-season Wolves target Michael Duberry. The Leeds number 22 was shown his marching orders by referee Laws, but Miller hit his penalty at a comfortable hight for Sullivan who tipped the ball away to safety.
Lee Naylor had to be replaced by Keith Andrews prior to the penalty after suffering a back injury and Cooper replaced Cameron late on, who was struggling with a thigh injury.
The performances have improved, but the position in the league table still looks just as disapointing.
