1st November 2003 | Middlesbrough 2 Wolves 0 |

| A sending off, a tunnel "punch up", 2 goals, hard tackles and a player named Danny Mills hated, but sadly, Wolves lost. | |

Wolves donned the all black, all new away kit for the first time at the Riverside Stadium, although the change in colour seemed to bring a change in luck as Wolves undefeated run of 6 games came to a sour end. Jones played with the usual back five (Oakes, Naylor, Craddock, Butler, Naylor) whilst Cameron*, Rae, Ince (c), Henri Camara and Kenny Miller were in Midfield, Steffen Iversen replaced the injured Nathan Blake in attack. *Colin Cameron however was injured during the warm-up, thus giving Joey Gudjonsson the chance to start whilst Sammy Clingan dropped to replace the Icelandic International on the bench. Wolves started to attack the Carlsberg Stand with the 3,000 traveling Wolves Supporters behind the goal of Michael Oakes. The leagues two weakest attacks were finding chances hard to come by, but Henri Camara could and possibly should have sent Wolves into a third minute lead. His pace and skill was too much for the ageing Colin Cooper and the Senegal International watched his shot drift just wide of the `Boro goal. Lee Naylor cleared a Queudrue header off the line after 17 minutes but neither side had enough firepower in attack to break the deadlock before the break. HT: Boro 0 Wolves 0 The second half was where this game was won, lost and turned ugly. Steffen Iversen had a chance to score for Wolves from 12 yards following a Camara Cross and the Senegal International headed just wide from 8yrds but, with the game heading to a stalemate, Boro scored. Lee Naylor challenged with Danny Mills on the edge of the area, the former leeds full back obviously thought the decision had gone against him and slammed the ball to the ground in frustration. The bald hot-head then appeared to square up to Lee Naylor, which forced several Players over to Mills to try and diffuse what was heading towards becoming a fight. Whilst this was going on, with the ball rolling and the referee watching the scuffle between Mills, Ince and Naylor, Substitute Juninho took a quick free-kick and Gaizka Mendieta smashed the ball home. This caused a push and shoving match in the between 18 players in which Danny Mills was booked. 5 Minutes later and the home side were two up. Junhinho scored from close range after a perfectly timed ball by Zenden. Alex Rae was then sent off in the 88th Minute. What for nobody knows, but it was a second yellow and he was off. FT:
