More heartbreak, a region split?
By Jamie Best April 15 2008
More heartbreak, a region split? For a lot of people, going into work tomorrow will be done with a heavy heart, a bad mood, a sombre feeling. For others it will be glee, it will be triumph, it will be “The Bragging Rights”. Just how are you going to feel once you walk into that office, shop floor etc?

Yes, derby day part II has been and gone and it has gone the way of our bitter rivals. So for a great many people in the Black Country, going to work tomorrow, facing their rivals in the form of work colleagues is going to be one bitter pill to swallow. I know it is for me anyway. Having two directors as Boggy fans is going to put me in a unenviable situation, thank goodness for small mercies of being in Derby (now there is a city in turmoil football wise).

It was certainly not a game for the feint hearted, so the Beacon commentators would have you concerned anyway. Wailing like a banshee at every corner, making you think there was a goal line clearance. But one thing is for certain, from behind the wireless we weren’t a team that was outclassed, we had our chances. We weren’t a team that was outfought, we fought toe-to-toe. More importantly to me, besides the 3 points (or 1 whichever way you hoped), we showed a spirit and fight up until the last minute that we need now for the last four games.

These last four games, are now must win. If we have hopes of reaching the play offs there are no two ways about it. We can’t go on at this point of the season hoping for results to go our way.

Yes, Crysal Palace still have to play Watford, Hull and Barnsley. Three very tough games. But unless we WIN against Ipswich on Saturday I think that would then be game over, Goodnight Vienna, see you in the Coca-Cola Championship next season.

Just how do you gauge what is likely to happen?

Where are your bets edged?

And if you get these right, what numbers are you going to put on the lottery? Because predicting this years league, you will need to have some psychic abilities.

And, can I just say that listening on the wireless, the fans sounded superb all night. Lets carry this on right through now. Regardless of what happens.

Spot on except for the fans bit

i know we hardly set the world on fire but when we conceded i couldn't believe how the fans reacted

as i shouted insanely at one point

'who is it we're playing tonight as we're so quiet'

i have no voice now anyway

what i'd give to have an atmosphere like the southampton one of last season and the football could coe second then

I have to agree Sedgley that the radio commentators (including the boggies one) were obviously reporting on a different game.

I suppose it was predictable that the Anti MM brigade would be out in force and I hope that after the adrenelin rush and bitter disappointment we might start to see some constructive criticism and perhaps even some good points about the game.

It is a bitter pill to swallow but @#$%& it - Tescos are where they are for a reason even if they were only one goal better than us over the two games. Looking at the scores against them last season I would say that was an improvement.

Big game on Saturday now.

i didn't expect to win last night.low expectation is my constant companion where wolves are concerned.
we did compete, noone could deny that.we did have good chances to score, but we are some way behind the albion going on what i saw last night.we needed to have more than we had to compete with greening, koren and gera in midfield.
wolves didn't play well IMO.SEB had very little to feed off.to be honest,i expected to lose more heavily than we did.kevin phillips usualy puts the chances he had last night away in particular the one that hit the post.
as i don't expect wolves to get to the play off's i'm not distraught over the defeat.win the rest of the games and there it is,play off's.
a word for michael gray what a pro this guy is.i hope he is retained for next season and eventualy a possible coaching role.i dont have favorite players but if i did,it would be michael gray.33 years and puts the sproggs to shame for running,oh yes,he can play too.
