Derby Day Showdown - This seasons biggest game?
By Jamie Best April 14 2008
The showdown approaches. So, here we are the eve of possibly our biggest game of the season. Could it be a defining moment, or just another hurdle to overcome? McCarthy has already come out and said that this game is vital, to both sides for that matter.

For Wolves its one of our two games in hand, where the points are without a shadow of a doubt paramount. For our near neighbours it’s a step towards automatic.

“This is one game which is vital for both clubs,” said McCarthy. “This result could set up a defining week for either of us.

“It would appear that way – but we might cut each other’s throats and it might go to the last minute on May 4.”

A loss for either side, though not catastrophic could end up having a significant bearing on confidence going into the final four games of the season. Where a big points haul will doubtless be needed to secure a play off/automatic spot for either team.

A win against our bitter rivals will no doubt give us a major push when we come to face Ipswich and Cardiff in our next two home games. Another two games where points are vital. Even more so against Ipswich who are fighting for a play off spot themselves.

It’s these derby games where everything goes out the window. Wolves are the form team, but will it have a bearing?

Will our defence hold up to the threat of Phillips, Bednar and Miller? Will SEB and Keogh carry on their blossoming partnership?

Also, with Karl Henry being unavailable with medial ligament damage, who should replace him? Gibson has been largely disappointing since his loan switch. Potter hasn’t been given too many chances, and Edwards is just coming back to fitness and has not partnered Olifinjana.

All I can say is lets make sure Molineux is rocking tomorrow night for the whole 90 minutes.

Absolutley.
Can't see us loosing.
Pepper their penalty spot with pacey balls and they will panic not clear properly and we'll score.
If we take a lead we will win.

Taking the lead means nothin against wba. 3-0 up with 30 min left to play, I would still be worried. This is going to be one hell of a game, win lose or draw pray we get no injury to our key players.

We will score tomorrow of that I am sure. The pace of Keogh and SEB will panic them at the back

The question is will Foley be able to stop the supply down the right, will Elokobi be able to stop the supply down the left and will our 2 centre halfs pick up on ther strikers.

We will see.

I've posted this on another thread, but i'd hope that as long as we take the game to them, the pace of Jarvis cutting in from the left and Gray from the right will hopefully increase spaces for Elokobi and Foley to get forward responsibly putting in some decent telling crosses, keeping West Brom under pressure when we're attacking.

I just hope it doesn't lead to over exposure at the back.
