WOLVES Chief Executive Jez Moxey has declared that Wolves have narrowed the candidates for the new managers job to twelve on the day Gary Megson became the forefront of media speculation. New Page 1

A board meeting to discuss the managers job amongst other issues resulted in the board narrowing the managers hunt down to twelve candidates with Chief Executive Jez Moxey stating that Wolves would not rule out a move for a manager already in work.

The Chief Excutive told the Birmingham post "..we won't preclude people who are already in work - it might be a more expensive route but if the board believe that's the right way then that's what we'll do."

"We've probably now got 12 names or so on a projected shortlist which will get whittled down further but there are some good names on there and there's lots of optimism among the board."

The comments made by the Chief Executive come on the same day that Gary Megson had been heavily linked with the managers post. Megson was a strong candidate to succeed Dave Jones and now appears to have entered the race to succeed Glenn Hoddle.

Mick McCarthy, Nigel Worthington, Paul Ince and Stuart Gray have also been heavily linked with the job.

MEANWHILE Wolves have decided not to terminate the contract of youth team player Chris Cornes. The 19 year old was banned for six months by the Football Association after being found guilty of taking a banned substance.

The ban has been back-dated three months due to Wolves immediately banning the player once the results of the random tests at the training ground were released to Wolves back in April.

Cornes will have to spend the next three months working with the Football in the Community team and will face a club fine.
