Briton Anthony Davidson is acting as Jaguar's unofficial reserve driver under a gentleman's agreement with Formula One rivals BAR. Davidson, 24, made his grand prix debut with Minardi last year as a stand-in for Alex Yoong over two races. He is BAR's official test driver. A jaguar spokesman had the following to say: "There's no official contract and he's not an official reserve driver but he can be used to step in if one of our drivers has a problem,"
"It's a gentleman's agreement between ourselves, (BAR boss) David Richards and Anthony Davidson."
Davidson’s comments:
"It could be good for me but it is a hard role to play because you don't want anything bad on anyone," he said. "But at the same time you would love to get your break.
"It is also good that I am at the tracks because I can go to the BAR briefings and know what is going on much better than if I was at home."
"At Jaguar there is a seat that is worth fighting for -- they have got a good car, the tyres are working well at the moment and the package seems to be strong."
Davidson, who has criticised Minardi Driver Justin Wilson for paying for his drive (claiming that it was not worth it), also had this to say.
"It is one of the teams left that is worth pushing for, because with Jordan you need money."
