Important considerations when moving
By John Burrows December 16 2002
In 1971, oncoming to Leicester to look for a House (on demob from the R.A.F.), my choice, according to Friends was made as follows:
a) there was a Pub at one end of the Street,
b) there was an off-license at the end of the other.
c)The House was 20 Minutes or so from a Rugby Ground.

The first ever game I saw at Welford Rd was an Extra 15 match against Nuneaton Seconds. I was hooked.

I've seen many Triumphs and Disasters over the years. The loss against Gloucester in '78, the three J.P. Victories following, the crisis at the Bristol Final with Tim Barnwell nearly dying, the delay in the Wasps semi-final when the game was held -up because a Fan Collapsed. That we lost that match (to a Rob Andrew Penalty following a trick by his Front Row) no one, I'm sure, really cared, as we were worried about the Guy concerned. He later, I learned, died.

The hard graft spreading the Straw before the Baa-Baas Games - who can ever forget that?

Following the Team up and down the Motorways with the Away Fans, with Len Buckham and Syd Chamberlain.

Listening to the Radio Commentaries from Bleddyn and Steve On BBC Radio Leicester and the Website. They really made me feel that I "Was There"

The sheer camaraderie in the Clubhouse after the Games, and the mixing with Away Fans.

During the Games, especially at Home, that we can Mix with Away Fans in true Sporting Spirit, (That surely pleases the Police no end!)

These are just a few reasons why I am, and will remain, a Tigers Fan for as Long as I am Able.
